Pre-1978 6-cylinder and V8-powered cars (Historic Muscle Cars).

Engine Capacity:

Cars must exceed 3,000cc (Historic Muscle Cars).
Period Correctness:

All cars must adhere to period regulations and presentation.
Eligibility List:

Only cars listed on the Eligibility List are accepted to compete.
Certification:

All cars must have a current Motorsport New Zealand (MSNZ) Certificate of Description (COD).
Event Focus

Safety: The primary goal is a safe environment for all participants.

Enjoyment: Events are designed for enthusiasts to race period-correct cars amongst like-minded individuals.

Car Presentation: Emphasis is placed on accurate period presentation and correctness.

No Competitive Pressure: There are no championships, points, or finishing rewards. The focus is on the experience and preservation of the cars.

The combined events cater to pre-1978 four-seater production cars, focusing on makes and models with a period racing history. These events emphasize period correctness, safety, and enjoyment, with no championships, points, or rewards for finishing positions. Successful events are those where participants take their cars home free of damage.


Regulations
Historic Muscle Cars
Historic Muscle Cars follow their own unique set of regulations influenced by:

Motorsport New Zealand Schedule T&C Classic and Historic rules.

FIA Group 2, Group 5, and early Schedule E rules, as applied during the late 1960s and early 1970s in the New Zealand Saloon Car Championship.
Historic Saloon Cars
Historic Saloon Cars adhere to four sets of regulations:

Motorsport New Zealand Schedule K: For original cars with a period racing history, presented as they were in the period. Only invited Schedule K cars are eligible.

Motorsport New Zealand Schedule T&C: For cars built to MSNZ Schedule T&C regulations. Cars must have a current COD.

FIA Appendix K: For cars built using the FIA Homologation Sheet. Cars must have an FIA Historic Technical Passport or an MSNZ COD.
Eligible classifications:-
F: 1/1/1962 to 31/12/1965 (or 1/1/1961 for certain cars).

G1: 1/1/1966 to 31/12/1969.

G2: 1/1/1970 to 31/12/1971.
-
H1: 1/1/1972 to 31/12/1975 (allowed only if specified).
-
Specific Provisions: Ford Escort MkI with BDG engine homologated in 1972, adhering to G2 Date Classification.

CAMS Australian Historic Group Nb and Nc:

Group Nb: Cars manufactured before 31 December 1964 (minimum 100 units produced).

Group Nc: Cars that competed in Australian races between 1 January 1965 and 31 December 1972.

Key Rules

Cars must be built entirely to the chosen regulation set (e.g., MSNZ Schedule T&C, FIA Appendix K, or CAMS Group Nb/Nc).

Mixing of regulation sets is not allowed.
